Mariah Carey & OPI Liquid Sand Collection - A Few swatches & thoughts

It's been a while since I have done a nail post as I have so many nail polishes in the salon I havn't purchased any new ones. But, I have made one exception this time! I was so intrueged to see that there is something new on the market other than crackle, or croc, or them stupid little caviar manicure beads that don't last any amount of time! Finally a nice twist to a polish that will last more than a day!

L2R :  Get Your Number  /  Pink Yet Lavender / Stay The Night / The Impossible / Sprung

I didn't pick up the whole collection and just chose the glittery ones =) of course =)

L2R:

  • The Impossible - Glittery red with large specks of red glitter & stars. This colour is still a little  see through with 2 coats. Its more like a pink red rather than a true red. Not my favourite of them all but the sand effect is pretty cool
  • Stay The Night - The most interestingly names out of the lot. Its exactly a mysterious dark night fall kind of colour. Almost black with hints of red glitter. The prettiest of them all I think
  • Sprung - A glittery dark purple with large purple glitter specks. Quite a deep colour with 2 coats. In some lights its more blue and in some more purple.
  • Get your number - A medium blue glitter blue glitter specks. A pretty colour but like the red, not the best colour payoff. Still a little see through with 2 coats. 3 would probably do but would take longer to dry.
  • Pink Yet Lavender - My favorite of them all. It's a rody pinkish lavender kind of glitter. This would look so pretty on top of another varnish or like a rose gold colour. Even alone. So pretty!
Overall:
I do like this collection and it takes around 5 mins for it to fully dry under a dryer. When painting it looks like a normal shiny glittery polish then it dries matte and sandy. Interesting how it's made to keep like varnish in a bottle but dry in such a way. I tried scratching the surface when it was dry and it stays put. The lighter colour seem to need more coats for fuller coverage. I still wish they had more dynamic colours as red blue and purple are a little "normal".

A collection worth investing in nevertheless!

Have you got your hands on this collection? x

New Years Organisation **Pic Heavy**

Hey guys!

I know it's a bit of a late one but I've been meaning to do this post for a while now. Having three days off for New Year and nothing else to do I decided to pull everything out and reorganize a little bit.

Sometimes it makes me feel better to rearrange a little rather than change the whole storage system..feels fresh, like a nice new start to the year.

Everything listed is from Muji or Ikea.

Lipstick storage.. acrylic drawers from Muji. These are great because they're stackable. I have a whole load of extras stored away incase I need to use them. The lipsticks & glosses used to be in colour co-ordination with lip balms and stains seperate but I find it looks tidier when they're sorted into brands.

Brushes are held in Muji containers aswell. They are in two seperate containers with 3 compartments. I have all my brushes sorted into size rather than purpose as some brushes are multi-purpose.

The first draw of lip products is lipsticks on top...then the 2 drawers pull out to be lipliners with contact lenses underneath. I also have 1 Rapidlash and eye drops.

Nextdoor lives my lip butters and lipglosses. I fell so in love with the lip butters that I went a little crazy and bought them all lol. They're great for a quick pick me up and go. And my dazzleglasses/ Every girls best friend. Love them!

I also have 2 Helmer drawers from Ikea which store all smy other cosmetic products. Left hand side is all face products and eyelashes, whilst the right side is mostly tools & eyeshadows or eye products.

Firstly is what I use on a daily basis first thing in the morning. Moisturisers, primer, foundation, BB Cream, setting spray/powder and concealers. Any sort of face base or coverage item is in here. Once Im done with this draw I move onto the next one.

Cheek & face products.  Sorted by brand mainly. The plastic bits in the middle that seperate them are just the detachable things from the Muji sets. You can section the lipstick thing (above) into 9, but I took the parts out to create sections in this drawer.

Boxed eyelashes...I always get boxes when Im abroad...so this is my stash. They stack nicely =)

These are all seperate eyelashes in sets of 1 or 2's that I just throw in here. Dont use these much, they're just more lustful items that I've gotten my hands on that I like to admire and MAYBE use once in a while LOL. Can't get enough of lashes =D

And the bottom two drawers are just useful stuff that I might need every now and again that I don't use everyday..nail things, phone cases, batteries..etc...

HELMER NO.2
consists of the following,

This is just my little boogie draw with pencil liners, pencil brow pens, eyelash curlers, glue, liquid eyeliners, brow set and some other little bits & bobs that are pen like. With my two little eyelash boxes hiding in the corner.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE my HD Brows Kit! I use it everyday and its soooo much better than the benefit one! Can anyone recommend a better eyebrow kit? I wana try Anastasia.

Another acrylic storage thing from Muji. Again I took out some of the parts to make it less sections. As you can see they're my two favourite babies Mr & Mrs Naked. Maybelline 24 Eye Tatoo, eyeliners, NYX Jumbo Pencils and some other gel liners by Kate, Mac, Bobbi Brown c and my trusty UDPP.

I have so many eyeshadow palettes that I try to squeeze them all into two drawers so I dont have to keep opening them all up to see. I can pull this open and see nearly everything.  Under my UD<3nyc 120="120" 88="88" a="a" and="and" as="as" blush="blush" cheap="cheap" color="color" cos="cos" don="don" faced="faced" few="few" have="have" i="i" im="im" in="in" love="love" more="more" mua="mua" neutral="neutral" one="one" only="only" p="p" palette.="palette." palette="palette" palettes="palettes" really="really" sleek="sleek" so="so" some="some" such="such" t="t" the="the" them="them" then="then" think="think" too="too" ud="ud" use.="use." which="which" with="with">

More palettes, just one large FrontCover one from years ago that I hardly use. Don;t know why I don't reach for it because it has gorgeous colours! Some Mac Mineralize Eyeshadows and Revlon paletes....the shiny plastic ones on the left are all ones I got from Hong Kong when I was there. Some Lavuscha, Kate and Canmake. They're such great on the go eyeshadows.

The final one is more eyeshadows but loose ones. I got some cheap mineral ones from Ebay and it had like 120 colours...never used them even though they're gorgeous! And some Barry M which are also great...and just some samples I've had in the past I throw in there.

And then another tool draw...my more useful make up bits. Or spares.

You know when you watch these youtube videos of make up gurus in America and they get all these great storage trays from like the dollar store or harveys or whatever their stores are called. There's nothing in the UK that has that. I looked everywhere online for the little plastic trays I have but theres not much option....Can anyone suggest anywhere that sells that type of storage. Or a website in America that ships worldwide? x

Or anyone can suggest anything else I can use for great methods of drawer storage? x

New Year Beauty Buys

As part of my new year splurge/treat/ whatever you wana call it, I got a few more beauty items that I have been lusting after for a while now. I either havn't gotten round to getting them or they've been out of stock.

I havn't tried any of these products before so Im excited to use all of them.

Mac Fix +  - Seems like alot of people use this. I see this in make up tutorials on youtube, peoples blogs and review websites. So I bought it without even knowing exactly what it's for. So I did some research and it seems that has multi purpose uses.
You can spray it over your face to take the cakiness look away from your foundation, or spray it under as a base to make your skin look more radiant. You can also use this throughout the day to refresh your make up and hydrate the skin. It is also supposed to be a make up setter but it seems not many people prefer to use it as a make up set. I think Ill stick to my Urban Decay for that because it works well for me. I think I'll use this more for eyeshadows to intensify the colour. Excited!

Real Techniques Starter Set - I have 2 out of 3 of the Real Techniques sets, plus some of the extra brushes. This is the only set I didn't have but they are working so well for me and I am so in love with them that I am on a mission to collect them all! They're so reasonaly priced aswell Im just in love. Sorry Sigma, your 2nd in line.

I also needed a fine liner brush for gel liner and see if this works better for me than a thin small angled brush. And again, the Real Techniques seems to be the most reasonaly priced for a very fine brush.

Primark Beauty Lashes - £1! I couldn;t resist for £1! I only went to get some socks and I came across these. I couldn't resist! There was another style but they were too heavy and thick. Like Essex drama queen lashes. So I got these instead. They are really long but  I guess you don't know until you try. The band doesn't look too thick either, I guess they should be OK for £1!

Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation - Um...ar...um....ar....10 years later I couldn't hold my urge back anymore in getting a new foundation. All of my foundations were way too dark for me or too pink toned as I have lost my tan. So it was either get a tan or get a new foundation. After seeing such great reviews on this foundation I couldn't resist. I tested it in Boots and it sets nearly matte. 54 Seemed the best match for me and it smells amazing!! I used it today for the first time and so far so good. Need to use it a little more first and I may do a review soon!

I also got a few extra items to organise my space more efficiently so I will have another post coming soon!

Have you tried any of these products? What are your thoughts? x
